Anthony Frank "Tony" Hawk (born May 12, 1968), is a professional skateboarder, after which the game series is named. He is the main character of the entire franchise. His popularity peaked when he became the first person in skateboarding history to complete and land a 900 degree spin in mid-air.

Early life

Tony Hawk was born as Anthony Frank Hawk, salesman. Hawk was the youngest of 4 children; he has one brother, Steve, and two sisters, Lenore, and Patricia.

In his autobiography, Hawk described himself as frustrated, unfocused, and prone to flying off into rages. He was nine years old when his brother changed his life by giving him a blue fiberglass banana board. His father built a skating ramp in the backyard, in hopes that skateboarding would be an outlet for young Tony's energy.

At the young age of 12, he landed his first contest win and turned pro by the age of 14. He graduated from Torrey Pines High School in the North County Coastal area of San Diego, California. As a senior at the age of 17 he was able to purchase his first house due to his success as a skateboarder. Tony Hawk retired from skateboarding in 1999.

Backround Information

Some people say this man is how SEGA gave Jet The Hawk his name, due to having a hoverboard (similar to a skateboard, only the average speed is 161 mph.)
