Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 (commonly abbreviated as THPS1+2) is a skateboarding video game of the of the Tony Hawk video game series, developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision. It is a remake of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 in Unreal Engine with new features.

It was originally released on September 4, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. It would be ported to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 26, 2021 and for the Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021.

This is Vicarious Visions' final work as a subsidiary of Activision before being merged into Blizzard Entertainment in January 2021. Development of future titles would be handed over to Iron Galaxy Studios. A remake of the next two mainline titles, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, is set to be released on July 11, 2025.

Changes from the original games

Aside from the new content included, some changes were made in comparison to the original games.

• The player is no longer required to play through Career Mode with each Skater.
• The exclusive levels from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X aren't included in the game.
• Subtitles are now added for voice lines that happen in various levels.
• Blood is completely removed for the Bail animations, instead being replaced with a makeshift VHS-rewinding effect to save time.
• The songs in the soundtrack can now be toggled, like in later games.
• In certain levels, plugs for sponsor companies and bands were removed, or replaced with logos from other Tony Hawk games as callbacks. Additionally, Bam Margera was removed from the Tony Hawk's Underground 2 poster due to licensing reasons.
  • Additionally, videos showing a live performance or music video of the song being played have been removed.
• When heading to the exit in the Mall Level, the player is instantly warped to the beginning rather than the session ending.
• Some gaps from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater levels were removed.
• Unlockable characters like Spider-Man and Private Carrera are not included.
• The Big Drop mechanic, previously present in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is not included.
• Tricks introduced in later games, like Reverts and Spine Transfers can be performed in the game, while Tricks exclusive to the two games can be performed together.
• Some of the trick names and songs were altered in comparison to the originals.

Trivia

• This is the first game in 17 years to feature Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifberg, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, and Jamie Thomas as playable characters since 2003's Tony Hawk's Underground.
• This game is built on top of Neversoft's handling code.
• The PC version was initially released exclusively on the Epic Games Store, but was later re-released in 2023 on Steam.
• Some gaps from THPS1 were removed.
• The initial PC release sold on the Epic Games Store uses Denuvo DRM; this was later dropped at least with the Steam release.
• Developed on Unreal Engine, like the Robomodo titles.
• The second 'remake' of the first two games, but the first to include all levels.
• The third re-release of the first two games, right after Pro Skater 2X and Pro Skater HD.
• Select unlockable characters from the original games, such as Spider-Man, are not included due to licensing issues.
