NY City is a level featured in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. It was never reused in following installments, except the Banks part appearing in THUG Manhattan level. Most recently, remastered in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2.

Origin

The level is based on several areas of New York. Notable landmarks include:

• Brooklyn Banks
• Brooklyn Bridge (on the far side of the level)
• McGraw-Hill Building Plaza and the Sun Triangle (called the Pit)
• 125th Street station (Although signage is for J, M, and Z lines, the real life station serves the 1)
• Central park: Alice in Wonderland area (but with a different statue)
• Central park: Trefoil Arch
• Central park: east side park area roads, long benches, rocks, streetlights.
• Central park: food kiosk is probably located in the north area of the park
• The crossing streets in this level are Riverside and 125th, however, they never cross like this in reality.

Level Specific

• The player has to collect 5 subway tokens in order to access the railway.
• From time to time, the player may hear a gunshot and a woman's scream afterwards.
• In addition, there is also a man in the distance hailing a taxi.
• You can hear the jackhammer, but there are no workers in the area.
• Taxis, which are driving across the map, allow the player to perform the Car Plant trick. The taxi drivers will yell at your skater if they hit them.
• Brooklyn Banks is a large secret area that can be accessed by the railway. It is cut in splitscreen multiplayer modes.
• The Railway is more than active, as there are trains driving in both directions.
• Fun Fact: The trains do not disappear after they enter the subway, but keep following a looped path beyond the map. In the PlayStation port, they are hidden from the player due to low draw distance, but on PC, it is easy to notice the trains floating in the night sky.
• It's rather tricky, but the player can actually perform a Train Plant off of the trains.
• New York is the only non-custom level set at night in THPS2.

Trivia

• In the Game Boy Advance version of the level, the bridge in Central Park is broken. Also, the statue is replaced with a blue cow. The billboard on the wall reads "Where's Rio?" is added as well.
• In the background gunfire, sirens, traffic and screaming can be heard.
• On the escalator to the subway, ‘125th Street Station’ can be seen, which is a real subway in Manhattan New York.
• The basketball hoops in the Brooklyn Banks fall over and disappear after the player grinds them. In Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, this no longer happens.
• The taxi driver's "10 points" quote is a reference to Grand Theft Auto's scoring system, in which a location called "Liberty City" is present, similar to New York.
