Robert Kelly Slater (born February 11, 1972) is a real life professional surfer. The characterized version features as a novelty character on the game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. Instead of using a skateboard to skate, a wheelless, hovering surfboard is used instead.
Trivia[]
- When collecting stat points in-game, the game states that players are collecting break points. The name break points is most likely a reference to the word, break, defined in a surfing context as is a permanent obstruction such as a coral reef, rock, shoal, or headland that causes a wave to break.
- Unlike the other secret characters in THPS3, selecting Kelly Slater will have no special reaction from Rasta Guy.
- The appearance of Kelly Slater in THPS3 is a promotion of another Activision game Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer. The PS2 version of KSPS would feature a playable demo of its sequel, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.
- Just like the other unlockable Skaters (with the exception of Officer Dick) in the original version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Kelly Slater did not return in its remake, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
