Christian Hosoi
Christian Rosha Hosoi (born October 5, 1967) is a pro skateboarder.
He was also known by the nicknames "Christ" and "Holmes". Hosoi, along with Tony Hawk, was the most popular skateboarder for the better part of the 1980s, having popularized the tricks Rocket Air and Christ Air, an aerial trick where the board is picked up in mid-air and the skater spreads their arms in a T-pose reminiscent of a crucified Jesus Christ.
Hosoi suffered a decline during the 1990s when vert skateboarding went out of fashion in favour of street skating, and began dealing drugs after a series of failed skateboard company ventures, in addition to himself suffering from a substance abuse problem. Hosoi was arrested in 2000 following an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine at the Honolulu International Airport, and was subsequently sentenced to ten years in federal prison of which he served four. Hosoi has since converted to evangelical Christianity and is now an ordained pastor who started a skateboard ministry for at-risk youths.
Hosoi is married to Jennifer Lee and has four sons, James Hosoi, Rhythm Hosoi (from a previous relationship), Classic Hosoi and Endless Hosoi. He is currently living in Huntington Beach, California.
Christian Hosoi was featured as an unlockable skateboarder in Tony Hawk's Project 8 and is also a playable character in Tony Hawk Ride.
