Differences Between Games[]

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2[]

It appears as a Bonus Level exclusively on the Windows version, looking almost identical to its appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater with some minor changes. The lighting is less saturated, the windows lack detail and the videos have been replaced with a static Neversoft logo. The ceiling lights can also be grinded on.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X[]

Though the layout is the same, the Level has been redesigned with some visual changes. The stage appears darker in lighting down to the ceiling lights, but still has a slightly saturated look. The SkateStreet and Skateboarding graffiti tags were replaced with Nokia sponsors. Just like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, the videos were replaced with a static Treyarch logo. Also, the windows now exactly match the original game's appearance.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland[]

The Level bears resemblance to its appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X, except with some changes. It appears slightly lighter, The weather and time of day outside was changed to an overcast evening, there appears to be an industrial factory outside, the graffiti was changed to sponsors, and there are chairs and soda cans on the walls and ramps, which are different from previous appearances. Additionally, the booths can now be damaged as opposed to being an obstacle, and the ceiling lights can be grinded on. The screens have a Neversoft logo again, except with a scrolling animation, while one screen at the starting point has a unique blue logo.

Tony Hawk's Project 8[]

The Level is nearly identical to its appearance in American Wasteland, except some of the sponsors have been removed and all screens have the Neversoft logo.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2[]

Despite having the same layout, the Level is now completely renovated, with a notably less run-down atmosphere as it lacks graffiti. The windows were removed, and there are now extra details like vending machines and fire exits. It notably now has a Vans theme to it, right down to the checkered flooring and sponsors. Not only the screen depicts that, but it now shows the player skateboarding.

Origin[]

In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, the level takes place in an indoor skate park given the name "Chicago Municipal Skatepark"; whether this location has any real-world inspiration is unknown. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, the level is based on House of Vans, located in Chicago.

Trivia[]

  • Chicago was the only playable level in THPS Demo.
  • The House of Vans theming for the THPS1+2 version of Chicago is also a nod to the early development of the original THPS version of the level, which was Vans Skatepark themed prior to it changing to a generic park on the final version.
  • In the THPS1+2 version of Chicago, there are posters around the level commemorating late skateboarder and skate historian Jeff Grosso, who died 7 months prior to 1+2's release.
