Differences Between Games[]
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (last-gen)[]
The Level is set at night. Instead of a helipad, in that place is a small room that slightly resembles a baggage processing area. It contains quarterpipes near the double doors, some rails on the ground, a ledge, a ramp, a rail over the secret entrance, and a small circular bowl.
Tony Hawk's Underground 2[]
If the player skates into one of the steel doors at the end of the level, they will now be teleport back to the start.
Origin[]
The origin of this level is unclear as THPS3 doesn't have any direct indications of its location. However, the welcoming billboard states "Welcome to the islands", there are palm trees all around the airport and player can notice the volcano at the entrance of the airport. According to the texture name, this is the Hawaiian volcano Diamond Head.
However, the globe map in Tony Hawk's Underground 2 has it placed in Japan. This led people to presume that Airport is located in either Osaka, Fukuoka, or even Kyoto since both levels share the location spot. But there is no Japanese text at all, so this probably was just an undetermined placement, in a similar vein to some of the classic levels in that game such as School and Downhill Jam.
The real-life equivalent of this airport remains unknown.
Airport has been confirmed to be set in Honolulu, Hawaii in THPS3+4 with the added Hawaiian state flag and new banners supporting and cementing the original iteration from THPS3 being set in hawaii.
Trivia[]
- During development, pickpockets were originally terrorists due to the model file being referred to as terrorist_a. This was likely changed in light of the September 11th Attacks.
- This seems to be a rushed change, due to how the pickpockets have a small animation where they seem to press something in their hand despite holding money thus causing groups of people to cower and run away. Their voice lines also seem more violent, and let alone all dress the same and be in questionable locations such as a women's restroom. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, they act more like pickpockets.
- In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, during the "Stop the Pickpockets" goal camera, a remix of a track from the Spider-Man PlayStation game, also developed by Neversoft can be heard in the background.
- On both the 6th generation versions of THPS3 and THUG2, Airport is set in the day, while the other versions are set at night.
- Also in THPSHD and the PS1/N64 versions of THPS3, the planes outside are based off Boeing 747, while the other versions feature planes similar to the Airbus A340 and Boeing 707. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 the planes appear to be based off Boeing 737s.
- Unlike the other versions of the games, the planes in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 can be seen taking off and landing.
- In THPS3 and THUG2, there are police officers guarding the bottom of the escalators. They will knock you down if you go anywhere near them.
- In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk's Underground 2, if the music is toggled off, the background sound effects use the same audio track. It features speakers over the PA system speaking in somewhat gibberish.
- The baggage caddy below the airport terminals goes backwards instead of turning.
- In THPS3, if one accesses the freecam mode, and proceeds to move the camera under the floors, one will find that the "reflections" on the floor were made by mirroring the level.
- In THPS3+4, the gates go to destinations
- London, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo are all levels that appear in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
- Vancouver appears in Tony Hawk's Underground.
- Melbourne appears in Tony Hawk: Shred.
- Though not appearing at any gates, the depatures board mentions Miami, Boston, Atlanta, New York, and New Orleans, which have all appeared as levels in other entires in the series.
